Last week of the transfer

Wow has this transfer gone by faster than my moms peanut butter bars
at a party! Speaking of which, I miss them. So all of you who get to
enjoy them, eat another one for me, I want like 12.
   Because I'm still training nothing really crazy happened with me in
this transfer so yay! I'm still in Vigo and I still get to enjoy the
marvelous companionship of Hermana Schriever. This week was really
good but also just really strange because of how normal it's been. We
didn't travel anywhere crazy and we didn't have a baptism so it was a
pretty stress free week. We have just been focusing a TON on
contacting and teaching members in our area to find more people to
teach. So far we have no one but that's okay! We will keep working
hard and be obedient!
   Pedro is doing so so well. He is my favorite. This week he was
pretty sick so we didn't get to meet with him but he still did his
best to come to church on Sunday. His faith and diligence is
inspiring, he is incredible. We are no longer teaching Ricardo which
is sad but in time he will be ready.
   Last week for P day was super fun though! We went to this cool
park, parque de Castro which has a castle at the top! It was super fun
to go on a kind of hike and I got to wear pants!!! It was so
wonderful. I forgot how fun it is to run and jump and do cartwheels
and climb things. Maybe that's why sisters wear skirts.
   For Pday this week I'd like to buy some art supplies, there's a
super cute lady here named Tomasa who wants me to paint a portrait of
her. I'm to excited. I don't remember the last time I held a paint
brush. Well I do. But it feels too long ago! I'm excited to use my
talents to serve the people here!

Why hello everyone! Sorry about the email shortage this transfers
schedule has been a little cray cray.

So first things first. ELDER BEDNAR CAME! Oh my goodness what a
blessing it is to have modern prophets! It was incredible. My comp
(Hermana Schriever) and I went to Madrid via plane on Friday morning
and stayed with the Sister training leaders in Barrio 2 Hermanas Berry
and McEntire. So my comp and I had Friday as our Pday and I didn't
have tons to write about or tons of time to write... Eh... We went to
a shopping area called Sol which was really fun, they have this huge
store here called PreMark and it is probably my favorite, super cheap,
good quality, and HUGE like at least 6 stories. huge.

So yeah after shopping and stuff we went to the Sister Training
leaders and went on splits, we waited for them in this huge plaza,
Plaza de Torros. I guess the month of May is when they have a lot of
Bull fighting events so the Plaza was super duper full with a. Ton of
crazy bull fighting watcher people who all were dressed super fancy,
so yeah that was fun. Not really important... Eh.

I'm just gonna skip to Bedar because he's the real deal.
Before meeting him he sent out an email to all of us to read and study
his last few talks and lessons. So all week I was studying and
pondering and thinking of what questions I would have or what I wanted
to learn. I came up with a lot. But I found that a lot of them were
answered as I was studying, and as I kept my thoughts on those
questions or topics I would receive revelation or someone else would
answer it for me without even knowing it.

Elder Bednar didn't give a talk. He was there with His wife, and the
Kearons from the 70s. He started by asking us what we learned as we
studied. Missionaries from the congregation would stand and tell what
they had learned and he would add to it or ask them a follow up
question. The second question he asked was what did we learn from the
pattern of how we learned or just the pattern of the meeting. We
needed to study and work hard before to receive the answers we were
looking for. He kept emphasizing that the spirit was the teacher not
him. If you look at my notes and compare them to what was said, you
wouldn't think they were from the same meeting. But the greatest thing
I learned was, I can't learn anything unless I choose to act on what is taught.

Take that home. remember that.

Well they are making me leave so I'm sorry I'm going to split this

Okay I'm back! Well like I said, meeting with Elder Bednar was
amazing. The spirit was with us throughout the whole meeting and it
was so nice to listen to him speak and study in ENGLISH. I love
Spanish but I'm not going to lie, I miss English.

I took a ton of notes and wrote down a lot of my thoughts so once I
get home, if you really want, I can share some of that with you but
for now I'm just going to stick with what I have. OH! So while he was
asking us questions and asking for our comments or questions I raised
my hand and he called on me! I stood up and he looked me straight in
the eye. It was an experience I will not soon forget. At the end of
the meeting he gave us an apostolic blessing and told us that we would
have the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost if we stay focused
on and live our missionary purpose, not just now but for the rest of
our lives. So I'm going to give you the invitation to live the gospel
by inviting others to come unto Christ through repentance, baptism,
receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end.
What an experience.

Then we had Pedro's baptism. 
I love Pedro, he is so wonderful! He is a 50 some year old man from
Columbia. My comp and her previous comp Hermana Staker found him while
contacting in the street, and he told them that he didn't really
believe anything but agreed to meet with them. They had the first
lesson and apparently they were all crying at the end it was so
spiritual. Then Hermana Staker went home and here I am! The first
lesson I had with him was about tithing and fast offerings, I was
nervous at first but he accepted it with ease and wanted to start
right away. He has so much faith. He also just loves learning the
doctrine of the church and truly hungers for the gospel, whenever we
show him more things about the prophets, the doctrine and covenants
and the Pearl of great price you can just tell he is soaking it all
in. He even does his own studies. He's going to be such a blessing to
this branch! He is wonderful.

His baptism is 1st place with Bednar for the most spiritual event on
the mission. In the pictures he looks terrified but that's just how he
smiles, it's easier to see his smile on a profile view haha.
I know that God loves each of us and that he has restored His church
on the earth today, and that as we strive to follow the example of the
savior and live the gospel principles we will be blessed. I'm
convinced that although Jesus suffered the most of all, He also lived
the happiest life.

iPads are a blessing and a curse.
I was just writing a letter and it completely froze on me. So I tried just sending it so you could get something. I talked about English class and a little bit about our three friends (Progressing investigators), Pedro, Ricardo and the last one I was talking about was Leidy.
I really hope Leidy will have the faith to pray to know if this is true. And I hope that we as missionaries will be able to help her recognize the importance of the gospel before she goes back to Columbia. Prayers.
Well I am all out of time because my IPad isn't functioning properly. :/ but I will explain the pictures.

A member from the states named Freddy took us out to lunch and we had probably the best burger I've ever had (I know I'm from the states, but I don't really eat out and try expensive burgers) But yeah it was so so super good!
On Saturday we had a ward activity to play futbol but there was only a small group that showed up and it was super rainy and wet but yep we played so there's a picture of that.
Oh yeah, there's me in a hammock at Judy's house while we were waiting for Leidy to come home.
And a picture of me just in the beautiful city! I need to teach my comp how to take better photos... Oh well! Here you go!

Mother's Day Facetime

After a few hours, and a lot of trial and errors, we finally got to visit with Jacquelyn.

I am so grateful that Jacquelyn was able to go to a members home and facetime us.

 It was so good to see her smile and hear her laugh. 

Jacquelyn is doing great! She loves being a missionary.

Vigo

Well it's the first official week in the field...

And I love it!!! My companion is Sister Schriever, she is from Eagle Idaho and Is fantastic!

She and I have a lot in common and I'm so grateful for her as my new companion, although Hna Sperry is super missed, she's serving in Barcelona...
Anyway! Wow, week one. First off we have iPads which is why emailing is 100 times easier to put photos in, hallelujah. I'm so grateful for technology. So yeah 6 hour train ride, Vigo is in the north west part of Spain and its absolutely stunning here. We live super close to the ocean but the place they ship to not necessarily the beach, there are small mountains and we got to see a ton on the way here which was a super tender mercy for this Utah chick who misses her mountains. 

First off our Piso. We live in pisos or apartments, ours has Ben used by the missionaries for YEARS so there are a lot of interesting things we always find, and when I came it was super dirty. But mom, be proud of yourself for raising me right, my first Pday here (today) instead of going exploring and stuff my companion was willing to clean with me (insert another hallelujah) so now it's super tidy and we have food from grocery shopping! YES! 

The mission field is not the CCM. Or the other way around... I was told that everyday would be like park day. They lied to me. Haha jk, but contacting here is a lot harder than at the park, everyone here walks everywhere and with a purpose, so they don't really appreciate it when we stop them to tell them about the love of God for them, and the Restored Gospel (I don't see why, it's only the single most important thing we could learn) So we need to be a little more creative for contacting. And the greenie fresh off the train I probably have too many ideas. But One of them actually worked out all right. In Spain, Mother's Day was yesterday so my comp and I made little bouquets of flowers with a cute note on it and handed them out to all the women we could! 

It was really fun and I was happy to serve.

We walk everywhere here in Vigo, and you can't really see it in the pics I took but there are hills everywhere, I'm super pumped about it so I can be in shape for Pdays we get to go hiking! It's also really nice because if I need some more walking shoes (which I shoudnt) they have them everywhere.

Brayden thinks my emails are too long so I'll cut it down a bit here.

ELDER BEDNAR IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!

AAAHHH!!! I'm so excited!!!! :D :D :D So yeah! Next Friday I get to fly to Madrid and meet him on Saturday! I couldn't be more excited!!!!! Oh so happy. Life is so swell here and I hope you all are doing well too!!! 

I know this gospel is true with my whole heart! This is truly the Lords work! Otherwise I wouldn't be able to speak nearly as much Spanish as I do and I wouldn't be here. I know it's true and I couldn't be more happy to share it to the people of Spain! I will update you all on investigators and such hopefully next time (Monday)
